#7 Starr 7 1937 Chevrolet bodied modified sportsman stock car. 1954 Chevy frame with 1940 Pontiac front axle hubs and Frankland quick change rear axle. Now powered by 355 Chevy V8, the original version of this car used a small block Chevy 265. This is the first car in New Jersey to use the new Chevy V8 in the 1955 season. #7 raced on the beach at Daytona and participated the first few years at the then new Daytona Speedway. Original build by Steve and Louis Starr.
#7 1940 Ford Modified Stock Car. Plucked from the hills of West Virginia, this car had been sitting for several years. Flathead V8 with Mercury crank and heads make this a 255 cubic inch motor. Original driveline, 3 speed trans, and dual carbs reflect back to a time when most cars were built under a shade tree on an extremely limited budget. This build uses a '40 body shell with '37 fenders and grille. A nice example of a bygone era.
