We are now at two weeks before our annual awards banquet. If you have not yet made plans for this event now is the time to send in your reservation . This is a great time to visit with the other members of the group and celebrate the end of the 40th season of VARC. This is a remarkable feat for any organization and we owe a thanks to all the people that served on the boards and official positions over the years. We have the hope that this will continue well into the future and it will be because of the dedication and enthusiasm of all the members. We had a very good year with great participation from the members and the banquet is the place to sit back and enjoy the people that make it happen. If you have not attended one of our banquets you owe it to yourself to come on out and have fun . We ask that you send in a reservation form with a check made out to VARC so that we will have an idea of how many to expect for dinner. Please try to get that in by Oct 20th so we have time to get everything in place.Tickets will be available at the door and for those that sent in your reservation your tickets will be at the door. We will not be sending them via the mail. Too much chance for them to be lost and not get to you on time. The banquet will be at Anjulinas Catering and Banquet Hall at 2270 Hayes Ave, Fremont Ohio. We will also have our annual night before the swap meet pizza party. On the 26th at 6 pm at the Fremont Comfort Inn we will be having our pizza party and story telling session. It is a great time and the admission is free. Just bring some picture of old race cars and stories from the past and you will be welcome in . We love to hear from the members personal experiences as drivers, mechanics,or spectators. This is part of our mission of keeping the history of oval track racing alive. We talk about the cars and drivers from the past and it is great conversations that relives history. So for a fun evening come on over to the party. There will be a test of your historical knowledge on racing. We are looking for someone that can beat Johnny Lawhorn and Butch Evans on the history of great drivers and cars from the past so study up on facts from the past. Like who was the last roadster driver to compete at the Indy 500 or maybe the first one to crack the 150 mph barrier. Or who has the most World of Outlaw titles. So be ready for the challenge, it is great fun. If you like bring your own list of trivia. On the morning of the 28th at 7 am the All Wheels Swap Meet opens at the Fremont speedway ( Sandusuky County Fairgrounds). If you have a garage full of unused parts that are just getting in the way this is a good way to turn some of your spares into cash. You might just be able to find a part that you have been looking for. So bring cash and spend time looking through the vendors both indoor and outdoor stands. It always a good time haggling over prices and you just might get that super deal on a part for next season, maybe even a complete car. After the swap meet we will start our fall board meeting at the Comfort Inn starting at 2 pm. We will go over any items from the last board meeting that need further discussion.and any new business that is brought before the board. Any new business should be presented in written form with an explanation of the proposal and a suggested method of implementation..We will end the meeting at 5 pm in order to have time to get to the banquet. The board meeting is open to any current member of VARC. Looking forward to seeing you at theses events, you will have fun I guarantee it.. Thanks Jim McDermott
